Shelter cove

Oregon has been magnificent so far for us, even though it’s one of the underrated sections of the PCT…
Here are our highlights:
- BUTTERFLIES

We have seen hundreds of them! So many they even landed on our packs when we stopped to take pictures.
- LAVA FIELDS
This volcanic rock is so aggressive to your shoes people say they will chew your shoe up!! Best combo: lava fields + butterflies.

- OBSIDIAN FIELDS
No picture of this unfortunately but there’s an area with lots of obsidian rocks on the ground, which was awesome!!
- WILDFLOWERS, again

It had been a while since we saw this many wildflowers, but that also comes with… more mosquitoes 🦟
- SUNSETS

Since we’ve been hiking longer miles, the days have been longer and we usually get to see the sunset while still walking.
- TRAIL STOPS

This part of the trail has a lot of lake resorts that you can stop at, get some hot food and/or extra snacks! The picture is from the pizza we got at Elk Lake.
And now we’re at Shelter Cove. We’re starting to find the NOBO bubble - lots of hikers coming north, and we’re heading to Crater Lake!
