stop at a ski resort... and a pleasant surprise

The second town stop of our journey was at Steven's Pass, mile 188 sobo, which was the end of a 6.5 day stretch from Stehekin. This part of the trail is one of the least maintained of the whole PCT, specially the Glacier Peak Wilderness, and we came across some challenging sections. The worst were a 5 mile downhill bushwacking area where both of us fell down (more than once...) and an uphill snow bowl. Silver lining is that we got some of the best views on top of the snow bowl and one of the best campsites! 🥳

We walked and walked, and then some more, and we shared part of this stretch with our trail friends Nicole and Dave, and Marte.

When we got to Steven's pass, we were plesantly surprised by Eric, who instead of mailing our next resupply box with more food, decided to drive from Seattle and personally deliver it! BEST DAY EVER

He drove us to Skykomish (a small ski town) on his way back to Seattle where Daphne got new shoes and we got some town food. We were eager to continue hiking so we decided to hitch-hike back to the trail the same night.

And we're off for 3-4 more days to Snoqualime pass!!
