Walking to Sierra City!

We left Belden with 4000ft climb over 5 miles which we did at 7pm to avoid the heat of the day. We made it to the top and cowboy camped for the night. The journey from here on was the end of the burn, so the trail started getting “pretty again”.

Then we started meeting all the sobos we’d been reading about on the trail registries: Maps, Ninja, Greybeard, Greyhound, Nobeard and Agnes. We hiked with some of them and leapfrogged with others.

At Quincy La Porta road we left the burned and started going through the Sierras.

On September 7th, we camped on the Sierra Buttes fire tower as a pre birthday celebration for Daphne!!

It was windy and cold, and we got some local visitors late at night (late for hikers!) that were just enjoying their time but the views were spectacular. On September 8th, we woke up and had a fancy breakfast of an egg skillet and hot coffee ”in bed”. What a treat!!

We also had birthday breakfast dessert of Blueberry cobbler:

And then we made it to Sierra City, where we had a sobo reunion of more than 6 hikers!!

Here are some more pictures… and next post will be about our way to Tahoe, with a special visitor hiker and a friend reunion!! ❤️
