We made it!!!
On November 9th 2025 we reached the US-Mexican border, after having lived on the trail for 144 days. We popped open some Catalan cava (aka the best sparkling wine) and celebrated with Miles' family and with Daphne's family on the phone.

There's a trail register at the border where people can write their names and a little reflection when you end the trail (or when you start it if you're going NOBO!). Miles and I wrote the following:
During our journey Miles kept saying: "can we believe we're here???" so this sentence felt very appropriate for our "end of journey" reflection.
We also saw the wall between the US and Mexico, which is actually visible for miles, and which is more like a fence than a wall?

If you've been reading this blog, you are up to date with our adventures and a lot of our trail stories. You know it's been a very fun experience for us and we've made memories that will stay with us forever. If you meet us in person, we'll love to share more of those!
And to close this blog entry, we'd like to share some stats with you. We walked an average of 18.9 miles a day during our 144 day journey, with Northern California being our fastest section (20.4 miles/day) and Washington our slowest one (16.4 miles/day). These numbers include zero days, basically days that we took off the trail for resting or attending weddings. We took a total of 12 zero days, and never more than 3 in a row. We also took 10 nero days (i.e. days where a few trail miles were walked). Counting only the days were we walked trail miles, our average was 21.1 miles/day, with Oregon and Northern California being the fastest sections (22.2 miles/day) and the Sierra being the slowest (17.4 miles/day). We also had 0 injuries, saw 3 bears, 1 baby rattle snake and countless squirrel, deer and grouse, and have developed outrageous farmer's tans.
We lived on the trail, we loved on the trail and we occasionally were upset on the trail - what a beautiful almost 5 months of our lives.
