we’re ✨finally✨ official
After having hiked more than 800 miles / 1300 km, we have been able to pick up our hand tags!!
They’re technically not required and certainly not everyone has them but we were really excited to get them. For sobo hikers, the first place you can get them is Crater Lake National Park. So we set out to get them.
Crater Lake National Park has experienced budget cuts and their ranger station is unfortunately not always staffed this year. Luckily, we found a friendly park ranger on trail and she very kindly agreed to leave two hang tags outside of the ranger station! We showed up to get them at 6pm after having hitched with a family on vacation from Ohio in a camper van, but the tags were not there! However, the same ranger we met was just inside the office and personally handed them to us 😊
We hitched back to the trail with a mother and his son from the Bay Area and continued hiking until Mazama Village, still in the National Park, where we would spend the night.
